The Parade of Champions
Ah.....a Yankee championship parade. Lord how I missed thee. Last time I saw one of these I was a freshman in college. I've been watching the live coverage on MLB Network and it's been an absolute blast. The crowd is phenomenal, the weather is gorgeous and everyone looks happy as a pig in....well, you know how it ends. Watching CC and Mark hamming it up with the crowd on the same float was really fun. Alex was rocking a fedora, as was Melky Cabrera. That hoodie most of the players are wearing....I WANT. I think I'll put that on my Christmas wish list. And in perfect fashion.............Mo's float closed out the parade. Who else would you want closing ANYTHING for the Yankees? Game, parade, backyard barbecue picnic tug of war....whatever. It's Mo.
Everyone looks like they're having so much fun and I'm jealous as hell that I'm not there. So for those who can't be there either and want to be racked with jealous pangs too, here are some photos.....enjoy!

I threw that last picture in because it's the coolest f*cking picture I've ever seen.

//Loved skipping classes to watch the parade [even though it was just on TV].//
My sister skipped school to watch it with me, even though she's a Cubs fan. She told me she'll never see one of these in her lifetime, so she figured she'd see this one. Poor kid. :-(
//I love this team. I'm sad that this is probably the last time this exact group of guys will be together. What a sad thought. =( I won't think about it. 96 more days until the madness begins in 2010! //

//Great photos, Beth. //
Thanks! I tried to look for HQ pics if possible, fortunately Yahoo! didn't let me down. I still need a good quality shot of Tex, and I'll keep looking for that one.
//Terrific day for the parade, too, for #27.//
Oh yeah, the weather looked divine. Same weather we're having right now in North Carolina, only we're a smidge warmer.

great pics beth! i took a day off from school/work and totally guilt-tripped my hubby into doing the same (we're both teachers) to go to this, since after all we've been through going to so many regular season game (remember the spontaneous road trip to baltimore?) and all the post-season purple-sock madness, i figured it was a good way to bring closure to an amazing season and experience the parade for the 1st time.
too bad the streets were packed and i'm too short because i hardly saw anything... i did see a glimpse of CC and phil hughes and jeter, and i thought i saw AJ, but not quite sure... besides them, i only saw the tops of yankee's heads passing by (even though i was on tiptoes).
then the crowd i was squished in got a bit rowdy and dangerous so my hubby and i left.
and btw- if this sounded like a miserable experience... IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! =)
besides, as i told my husband, "now we learned a lesson - next year when they win #28 we know to come 2 hours earlier than we did today!" GO YANKEES!

You're a teacher, Nareah? Bless you. You do God's work. My sister is doing Middle Grades Education right now with a concentration in Social Studies. The world needs more people like you.
I'm glad that you and hubby had such a great time (who wouldn't?) and yes if we win next year, get there about 4 hours early and stake out a good corner or something. That's what my friend did. Or see if you can't make a friend in one of the buildings along the route and ask if you can hang out the window with a camera.

We couldn't have done it without you. I still say you and your socks should have been on a float. Maybe next to Jeter. Or Alex. Alex and his fedora. Yow.

//being thousands of miles away, these cool pictures more than suffice.//
I'm glad you like them. I wanted to make sure that whomever came by to check out the pix would be getting quality ones.
//Thanks for the pictures and a great season on the blog.//
You're very welcome and I hope to see you next season as well.

I wish I were there to join in the celebration. But, being thousands of miles away, these cool pictures more than suffice. Thanks for the pictures and a great season on the blog.
P.S. I had a hunch Rivera was hurting. But as with all the Yankees, he refused to make excuses.

i LOVE your idea about my getting a place on a float with my purple socks!!! lol. i mean, if that frying pan-clanging fan dude got a spot today...

Freddy is an institution. I'm not surprised they gave him a spot on a float but next year, I better see some purple socks on a stick or something. Especially if your run of good luck continues.

I'll still be posting, don't worry. Not daily as there won't be much news for a while, but if something big happens or if the Yankees make a move, I'll be discussing it here. Be sure to come by tomorrow for my big thank you post to all my regulars, of which you are one.
