In case of rain, start CC?

So, the forecast for Saturday's game is looking a little iffy.  Apparently there's a good chance of rain all day and into the evening hours, which will either delay the start of the game or postpone it entirely.  Which sucks, but it's October and this crappy weather is to be expected.

Here's the deal, though.  CC is expected to start Game 7 on Sunday, should we lose tomorrow night.  If Game 6 is postponed and pushed back to Sunday due to weather, CC could theoretically start that game and be pitching on regular rest (5 days).  Should we do that?  It's a must win game for sure, and the sooner this series ends, the better.  If we lose that game, Andy would then be pitching Game 7.  My question to you readers is, should the Yankees start CC for Game 6 if the game is pushed back to Sunday night?  I would do it in a New York minute and not even think twice.  You want your best pitcher on the mound for a clinching game.  Our pen would be then given an extra day of rest, so if CC has to come out earlier than the 8th inning [which is rare], we'd have all hands on deck available and ready to go.  To me, it's a no-brainer.

Also, and I've just been given word of this..........

NAREAH WILL BE AT THE GAME.  I REPEAT, NAREAH WILL BE AT THE GAME.

For those that do not understand the significance of that, Nareah is something like a good luck charm for the Yankees.  She's been a faithful reader and commenter here I think since I started this up in April of 2006 and almost every home game she says she's going to or been at, we've won.   She's undefeated this playoff season and following our loss in Game 5, I practically begged her to be at Game 6 and/or 7 since her services would be sorely needed.  So fear not, Yankees fans.  We have a little extra something sitting in the seats helping us out.  If we win, hoist a glass of whatever you're drinking at the time in her direction.

Tough one...If you start Andy and we win, WS start for sabathia will be full rest plus some. If he loses and they have to go 7 games, sabathias world series start will be on short rest. If cc starts, and they win or lose he starts on 3 days rest. (WS starts Wednesday, right?) so it's tough. If Andy wins, perfect for CC. If he loses, Burnett would have to start game 1.

PS: I'm on long island again and the last time I was here, Yankees took 4 straight from Boston.

See, after I made that post I started thinking about World Series implications, since I had completely forgotten about it the first time around. If the game gets pushed back and CC starts [which apparently won't happen, per Girardi], win or lose he won't be available for Game 1 of the World Series, if we advance. AJ would have to take that start and seeing how he's pitched lately.....not sure I'm digging that. Maybe it's best not to mess with the rotation right now.

Good luck charm pt. 2? They'll need all the help they can get.

i can't believe the game is cancelled - i'm bummed there's no game today...
at least we hadn't headed out yet before they announced the news. my hubby and i had just gotten all dressed for the cold and possibly rainy night - i had my lucky purple socks on and everything...
while i really want the best outcome for game 6 and cc is our ace, i think it's best to save him for the do-or-die "must win" game, which is game 7, if there is a need for game 7 (please don't let there be a game 7!) what does everyone else think?
for the record, it's was a real proud faithful yankeeschick blog reader experience to see that my name has made it to this blog!!! heeheehee =)
anyways, we will be there tomorrow for game 6 - TOMORROW, WE CLINCH THE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!

You're one of the few people who's been here since basically the start, so why not pimp your name out and let people recognize greatness? Game recognize game, right? So yeah if you and your lucky purple socks get us a win tomorrow night, you better be at Games 1 and 2 of the World Series as well - no taking chances, missy. ;-D
