It's time to face the music.
I know this will be tough to accept, and frankly, a part of me doesn't want to either. But if you think the Yankees are making the playoffs, you must be drinking something that's 90 proof. Time and time again we see this team go up there against teams they should be beating, teams they should be sweeping....and instead they get their butts handed to them. Swept by Anaheim, nearly swept by Minnesota and before that....barely taking a split from Anaheim and Texas. There's about 40 games to go, and we're facing sizeable deficits in the WC race and the division. If the Yankees DO end up making the playoffs, I'll post a huge picture of a crow with a knife and fork. Guarantee that. There was so much optimism before the ASB, when the Yankees were playing great baseball and only a few games behind the division leader, but then the wheels just fell off. We got slammed by injuries and everyone started drinking the su.ck juice (keep your minds out of the gutter).
I was really hoping we could sweep the Twins to get some momentum on our side, maybe to try and will some good fortune our way, but it just doesn't appear to be our season.
On the very bright side, congrats to Michael Phelps for winning his 7th gold medal of the Beijing games, tying him with Mark Spitz for most gold medals won in a single Olympiad. He's also tied now with Eric Heiden for most individual gold medals won in a single Olympiad. He can go for record-setting #8 in the medley relay, and the US is favored, so I can't see him having any issues. If not for this amazing story, the last week or so would have been even more depressing.

Its a real sad song I'll tell you! Its been that way for a long very long time! The Yanks have made the playoffs for the past 9 years but who cares? When you make it that far and you get blown out in the first round big deal I'd be ashamed at the fact my Team was the first to lose!
What about the 3 game lead we had over Boston and then lost four staright! Made MLB HISTORY on that sad tale of woe! What good is having the best closer in all of baseball only to have him lose the WS to the AZ Diamondbacks? Seemss odd huh?
So now Torre is gone, got mad about having to win sommething for his high priced salay (gee I got to go to work everyday and get something done t00) now his Dogers are tied for first in the NL West, weak as it is but still not 10 games out of first! Hey I'm not saying we need Joe Torre but what we don't need id Brian Cashman!
Look at the Mets! mthey got the pitching we needed, not kids who think hey can do anything they want and get paid big bucks for it!
It sure is a sad song, 200 million dollars plusa bd we are 10 games out wuth only 40 to play. Lets hope these inept Yankees think they are still in it maybe we get a wildcard spot?
