Two straight sweeps? That calls for a Crazy Stein.
What a nice way to be heading into the Red Sox series. The team has been playing better since we came back from the ASB than they probably have during the rest of the season so far. Our bullpen has been dominant, our starting pitching has been great (Sidney Ponson struck a deal with Satan, I'm convinced) and our offense has been showing up. Regularly. Cano is hitting close to .600 since the All-Star break. The same Cano who at one point, couldn't buy a hit with Bill Gates' money. I wish they didn't always wait until the 2nd half to start playing like an actual professional ball club, but we take what we can get. I'm actually looking forward to playing the Red Sox as opposed to dreading it. My hope is that the Crazy Stein gets posted again, but I'll take 2 of 3 at the very least.
And what's really funny about that picture is if you Google "crazy Stein", it's the first picture that pops up and it links back to my site. I can't remember who coined the phrase first, it might have been Jason from the Heartland. So if you're reading this, kudos to you for coming up with it.
I am hopeful that the winning ways continue. What is a pleasant surprise is that a lot of the young players are trying very hard to get it done. In some way, I am hoping that Matsui and Posada do choose to have the surgery. I would rather have them lost for this year than take a chance and ruin themselves for life. With all of the injuries this year to just about every starting player, the Yanks have done a very heartfelt job and are currently only 3.5 games out of first.
Caps off to the bullpen this season. Joba has pitched quite well, he will need to do so against Beckett and the Sox, to me the surprise of the year has been Mike Mussina. Hopefully the team can put together a good run this half of the season....and stay healthy!

Ahh the crazy stein. Love it. I don't know why the Yanks always fire it up in the second half, as opposed to the start of the season these days but I'm glad that they got hot at all. They were teasing us the entire season and it finally looks as if they're for real. I'm up for the crazy stein again. I'm cursed for being overly optimistic about this team sometimes but what the hell - I say make it 9 straight.
