Thank you Brett, thank you Mo.

I love beating Papelbon, he's such a d.ouche.  He puckers that mouth like a butthole and stares down the batter like he's f*cking Zoolander.  Meanwhile, Mo just goes about his business like it's no big deal.  Mr. "Cinco Ocho" could take a page or 20 out of Mo's playbook about class and comportment on the mound.

In any event, Brett Gardner is the hero of the game, delivering a walk-off single in the 10th to score Robbie Cano.  Thanks to the both of these guys for this win; the series started off horribly but fortunately ended well.  A split is better than nothing and better than I thought we'd end up with.

And as if Yankees fans didn't have enough to worry about, the Rays are running away with the division.  They have a 7 game lead on the Sox right now.  Did this team come out of nowhere or what?  I'm hoping after the All-Star break, they start to slide some.  I don't want to be fighting the both of them for the division.

Great game this afternoon/evening against the Bosox. Glad to see Rivera get the win and more so see a rookie line the game-winning single off Papelbon -no more river dancing on the mound this time.

Jeter summed up this season -thus far- best when he said that the team was "consistently inconsistent." I hope the injuries to players heal, and the entire team can be on the same page during game time. It's one thing to score 18 runs in a game, but to follow that with a string of low output losses does not help.

Perhaps the all-star break will be a positive one and the team can rally to take the AL east or at least make the post season this year.

I wonder how many players have NOT spent some time on the DL this year?

Other than it being a 5 game lead (at the time), I agree with what you said about the Rays. I am sure some zealouts out there think it's all because they took the "Devil" out of their name.
