Joba and Mo own you.
What an AMAZING game. I was nervous from basically start to finish because games against the Sox have a bad habit of not ending well most of the time. I wish we were able to give Joba some more runs tonight, but a win is a win and this one makes it 7 in a row. Joba was beyond brilliant tonight, pitching 7 innings, striking out 9 while walking only one and giving up 3 hits. Mo came in for the 5-out save and basically did what Mo does, giving up only 1 hit and striking out 3 in 1.2 innings. Nice job.
Anyone else starting to get annoyed at Boston's histrionics? First Kevin Youkilis after getting buzzed by Joba Chamberlain (and in a game as tight as this was, not even Remy thought it was intentional) and then Mike Lowell decides to blow an artery after getting K'd by Mo in the 9th. Really, really, REALLY unprofessional, guys. The whining, the crying, the stomping, the pouting, the self-righteous indignation.....it's got to go. It makes you look like children. I'm getting sick of watching it, you're supposed to be grown men. And let's see Manny flaked out of the game and Ortiz's huge return was null and void. Well done!

This was Joba's finest outing of the season. The timing could not have been better since only one Abreu crossed the plate for the lone run of the game. Giambi showed a lot of grit going against the shift -even though it was only a single, that was a great hit. Unlike Ted Williams who in the 46 World Series insisted on hitting into the Cardinal shift, Giambi provided the game winning hit by taking what the defense provided.
Mo took us out of a scary situation after Farnsworth left with two on and one out in the eighth. What a game.
I was shocked to see that we actually acquired Xavier Nady from the Pirates. I hope this does not cause any problems next season when Matsui is (hopefully) healthy. In any case, I casted a vote for him in the 2008 all-star game.
Let's hope we can chase that knuckleballer out of the game early tomorrow!

Joba came of age tonight. He's had lots of great moments, but this was an enormous performance in a big game, in Fenway no less. Huge, huge clutch start, just dominating the Sox. Youkilis has a right to be frustrated about all the regular dustings he gets from Joba but, c'mon, I really don't think that was intentional, with the game 1-0, with the count 2-0. For anyone watching, Joba lost several fastballs way off the plate to that side, usually to lefties. Count on retaliation soon enough from Boston. The Yankees will need to keep their composure. Lowell's flake-out was hilarious. While Mariano got a generous call there, it was no more generous than Delcarmen's call on A-Rod the inning before--the same location. Beckett got some generous ones as well, though he pitched his butt off. Mariano's last strike to Drew was perfect, tailing right back over the plate with a huge loop, a sure strike. Some Sox fans might not want to admit those things, but they're true by any accurate assessment. Their team cried a lot today, more than usual.
BTW, I don't think it was I who termed the photo the Crazy Stein. I could be wrong, but I don't think I did so. It may have been you, Beth.

7 in a row... it's great to see the yanks winning again.
Joba was indeed brilliant tonight. Semi wished they would of let him go another inning, but I understand why Girardi pulled him out... and the Yanks got the win, so greaatt.
"And let's see Manny flaked out of the game and Ortiz's huge return was null and void. Well done!" - Lol. Ahh. Manny was crying today too... no one would kiss his boo boo. *fake tears here for you manny*
