8 straight, tomorrow we go for the Crazy Stein three-peat.

What a game!  I was expecting a lot of the fireworks from the Sox today, especially after Varitek said the Sox would "deal with it" in reference to last night's Joba/Youkilis faux-showdown.  Well, they didn't exactly "deal with it" and the fireworks ended up coming from our bats rather than from a brawl.  Which is how it should be.  This afternoon was the polar opposite from last night's game, if only in relation to our offense.  Last night we couldn't get anything going, today we tripled Boston's run production.  We'll start with that before moving on to our pitching, which again was fantastic.

This lineup managed to plate 10 runs on 13 hits, 6 of which came from the bottom 3rd of our lineup.  The top half of the lineup managed the other 7 hits, with Derek, Bobby and Alex accounting for 2 a piece.  Johnny Damon and Alex Rodriguez had 2 RsBI each and Robbie Cano was our offensive Star of the Game, going 3-4 (3 RsBI).  Ever since the ASB, he has just been ridiculous at the plate, and it's about time.  Apparently his dad was helping him with his swing over the break.....perhaps he should do that full-time.  Just a great, great, GREAT job from the offense today.

On to the pitching, which has been as stellar and dominant as our offense has been.  And not just our starters, but the bullpen as well.  The bullpen has been lights-out for the last 2 weeks.  And by lights-out, I mean the game is over when they come in.  Veras, Ramirez, Robertson, Mo.....all of them.  Even Marte our new acquisition was dominant today.  This is the team that should have started the season, but we love those late starts, don't we?  Andy Pettitte pitched 6 solid innings, striking out 7 and walking 3, while giving up 3 runs on 5 hits.  The bullpen gave up 1 hit......and that's it.  Couldn't ask for more tomorrow I hope we get more of the same.

Speaking of tomorrow, has Sidney Ponson been taken over by the ghost of Aaron Small?  Surely Snacks Pontoon cannot keep pitching like he has.  I hope he does don't get me wrong, but it's like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop here.  If it does, I hope it happens after tomorrow.  I want to post the Crazy Stein again.

I managed to catch the game on Fox this afternoon, it was a good win. Was it my imagination or was Andy Pettitte given a slightly smaller strike zone today? Aside from a scary inning one, the team played great baseball. Cano continues to see the ball well, and the pitching has been superb. A-Rod managed to shake off a 97mph heater that I thought might have cleared the benches. And to the Sox fans, thanks a lot for showing absolutely no class -cheering after A-Rod got nailed. Maybe some of you would like to stand at home plate and get beaned by a 97mph ball!

Hope Ponson can continue the pitching streak tomorrow against Lester.

I hate to say it, but I have to be cynical. You know as well as I do that if situations were reversed and they were at Yankee Stadium and Ortiz or Manny got hit, Yankee fans would cheer just as loudly as the Sox fans did. And I'm not saying that just cause I'm a Sox fan; it's just the truth. There's really no difference between Sox or Yankee fans!
