Johnny Damon made my birthday very nice.

Today is the day where everyone I know sends me sh!t and wishes me Happy Birthday.  Johnny Damon was one of those people.  He goes 6-6 with 4 RsBI, including the game-winning hit to put us over the Royals 12-11.  Today's was one of those games where it's back and forth all day and everyone's pitching s.ucks.  Andy Pettitte did not fair well this afternoon at all, going only 6.2 innings and giving up 10 runs on 10 hits.  Weirdly enough, he only walked 2 people.  Our relievers fared much better, giving up a combined 1 run on 2 hits.  Mo got his 2nd win of the season, pitching a good 9th.  He did give up a run, but his ERA is 0.67 and he's been practically invincible all season.  This is not something to worry about.  It was nice to see the relief corps putting the fire out, rather than adding more gasoline.  At least Andy pitched long enough into the game that we were able to scratch back before it was too late.


Our offense today consisted mostly of one person:  Johnny Damon.  Hard to believe, but he's the outright star of the game.  Other great performances were turned in by Alex (2-4, 2 RsBI), Jason (2-4, 2 RsBI), Jorge (2-4, 2 RsBI) and Melky (3-5).  This was our second walk-off win this season, and it again came on the heels of a poor pitching performance which required our offense to pull a miracle out of thin air.  Not much else can be said about what we did today, other than thank God for Johnny Damon (how many times do you hear that?).
