The Yankees are sadly predictable.
I really wanted them to win this game. If only to make all the people who think we still should have signed Santana shut up for 1 day. Unfortunately, the Yankees had other plans. I couldn't watch the game because apparently my boss thinks I enjoy working more than watching the Yankees; the only redeeming feature is that I don't get paid to watch the Yankees, otherwise I'd quit. It's getting to the point anymore where I'd rather work than watch the Yankees because at least when I work, I get something out of it. Watching this team anymore only gives me heartburn and ulcers. Santana pitched into the 8th inning which frankly, we all expected him to do. He's Johan Santana and we were so convinced that Phil Hughes and Co. were so valuable, he wasn't worth our time (and money) anymore. Why am I scared we're going to regret that decision?
However, somewhere in the middle of this crap contest full of garbage and disappointments, there were a couple bright spots. Derek went 3-4 with 2 RsBI and Jason Giambi went 2-4 with an RBI. Both players hit HRs. Andy Pettitte went 6 innings, giving up 3 runs and striking out 7....it was our pen that blew this game. Yet again, we get a good performance from our starter, and either our offense or bullpen sh!ts the bed. In today's case, it was both. Typical. Can we win tomorrow or is that too much to ask?

We cannot seem to combine good hitting and good pitching in the same game. At times this season, we seem to be able to bunch poor hitting with poor pitching. The losses are heartbreaking, and I think the team feels frustrated. Let us hope that the team is not strutting into the games thinking that "we will win because we are the Yankees and we really do not need to put forth much effort."
I still have not given up on Hughes or Kennedy. It is a "hope" that in the end these two will become part of a strong rotation for years to come. This is a growing year, one that perhaps will not produce as much in the win column. I foresee people losing jobs at the end of the season if this trend keeps up.
