1 down, 161 to go.

Sorry for this being a trifle late, I was at work and unable to get this done before.  I was beyond thrilled to find out we won, although it would have been nice to watch it live....thank God for MLB.TV.  Personally, I think the idea of "Opening Night" is better than "Opening Day"....I just like nighttime baseball.

Wang pitched a great game tonight, going 7 innings and giving up only six hits and two runs.  He walked two and struck out two and gave up no homers.  Joba pitched great and set up Mo, who closed it out and got his first game of the season.  The two of them combined for one walk and three strikeouts, giving up no hits or runs between them.  Just a picture-perfect pitching performance (say THAT 5 times fast!) from 3 of our staff aces.  Couldn't ask for a better first game of the season if you tried.

It was a low-scoring affair, but games when Wang pitches usually are.  Alex went 2-3 with an RBI, apparently thinking it's still 2007, which is fine by me.  Another year like that this year, maybe with the overall team playing better, could translate to fun times come October.  Bobby went 2-4 and Robbie Cano went 1-3....that hit being the game-winning run.  Not much else to say about the offense tonight, as I said, it was typical of a Wang-pitched game.  Let's keep this going for tomorrow's game.

For some reason, I can't find a decent picture of Alex or Robbie or even Melky.....if Yahoo! Sports adds them anytime soon, I'll edit the entry.

how could you not mention melky's homer and 2 spectacular catches?
not trading melky was the right move.
