Phil finally gets a perfect game out of us.....sort of.

A win is a win is a win, even if it is in a rain-shortened contest.  And it was a perfect game!  Well, a combined perfect game effort but that's better than nothing.  Phil Hughes got the win, and Igawa......shocker coming.....pitched 2 innings, gave up no hits, no runs, no walks.  And struck out two.  I know, I know.....I could hardly believe it myself.  So even in an abbreviated game, we were able to get some good innings out of people who don't usually give us good innings.

We only scored 2 runs, but hey.....6 innings isn't always enough to put up a crooked number and it is spring training.  Shelley Duncan went 2-2 with an RBI and and Melky Cabrera got the other run for the Yankees.  What I love most about ST is seeing some of the kids playing and getting a shot and impressing the bosses.  These could be the stars of the future out there, so it's always great to watch them.  Short but sweet GDP today, but sometimes they'll be like this until the season starts.

Shelley Duncan gets the other Star™, but unfortunately, I have no picture for him.  Yet.  I'm working on it.  :-)

Welcome back, stranger! Haven't seen you around these parts much. But yeah, I haven't seen a lot of pics of him, but I'm looking. Don't want anyone to get slighted.

And yeah, I hope to see some of the game, but I have to work tomorrow, so we'll see. I'll put up a GDP regardless.

I always try to stay guarded about Spring Training success, but I have to say I'm impressed with the focus of the team, and the way that players like Shelley, Melky the Clutch, Abreu, and Ensberg have begun the year. The team as a whole looks sharp. I also have to give it up for the Kei-man, even though he was pitching against subs. This was good for his confidence, and Traber's fanning the side doesn't hurt as far as fishing for lefty options.

Nice start so far, for certain.

thanks beth,
yeah melky has been looking good, but bobby has really been on fire.
