"TAMPA, Fla. -- Oft-injured pitcher Carl Pavano arrived at the New York Yankees' minor-league complex Friday and played catch for 12 minutes. A $39.95 million bust since signing with the Yankees as a free agentbefore the 2005 season, Pavano had rotator cuff surgery last June 5.
It's not known whether he will pitch in 2008, the final season of his
four-year contract. Yankees vice president Billy Connors and pitching coach Dave Eiland
watched Pavano's throwing session, which was broken into two segments.
The right-hander's throwing distance reached around 90 feet.
Eiland plans to meet with Pavano and Yankees head trainer Gene Monahan on Monday to discuss the pitcher's rehab program. "He feels great," Eiland said. "The ball came out of his hand well." Pavano, who threw in a restricted area, did not stop to talk with reporters. Hampered by shoulder, back, elbow and rib injuries, Pavano went 5-6 in
19 starts with the Yankees, including 1-0 with a 4.76 ERA in two starts
last year."

I'm pretty sure no one, even Yankees fans, gives much of a **** about Carl Pavano anymore; I merely posted this story to show that things are getting going in Tampa, a sign that Spring Training is about to start. Thank God. I've
missed baseball and all the fabulous ways the Yankees will find to lose games this season. Just kidding. It's our last year at Yankee Stadium, I hope we close the old place out in style.

$40 Million To Play Catch !!! ...
As I stated in comments on some other Blogs, "It was very distrubing to hear that Carl Pavano has arrived in Tampa to take part in Spring Training" !!!
The image of Pavano arriving at the Yankees Spring Training complex, "to play catch for about 12 minutes, in a restricted area, and not talking to any reporters" [as reported by AP]...kind of sums up Carl Pavano's whole [so-called] Yankee career!
The Yankees have no choice regarding paying Pavano the remaining $11 Million that he is owed [but did not earn] on the disastrous $40 Million contract they signed him to a few years ago. The Yankees do have to pay him...
But, with all the good young pitchers on the Yankees roster, [scheduled to report to camp in a few days], I think it is a major "distraction" to have "A Carl Pavano" "playing catch" while promising rookies, and other young players, are preparing to get ready for the upcoming Baseball Season...
The Yankees have to pay Pavano, but they do not have to keep him on the team! They have wasted $40 Million, and it's time to end the misery!
RELEASE CARL PAVANO - NOW !!!
Let the "Original American Idle" bring his act elsewhere!!!
