If I'm Bill Smith right now, I'm crying so hard my eyeballs pop out.  Both the Red Sox and the Yankees had much better deals on the table and the Twins waited too long and everyone backed out, forcing their GM to take a sub-standard deal (and face it, what they're getting for Santana is not what you'd expect to get for someone of his caliber).  I'm beyond thrilled that Cashman stuck to his guns and didn't sell our farm for him, even though it would have made our rotation this coming season pretty **** good.  Yes I wanted him here, but when I realized what we'd have to give up to get him, and what that would do to our rotation/farm in the future, I realized some prices are too steep to pay.  I'm even more ecstatic that he's not in Boston.  I could have dealt with him not ending up here provided he didn't end up there.  Like they need to get any better.  This does however, make it rather easy for the Mets to dominate the NL East and I can see Johan putting up some really obscene numbers, since the NL is so f*cking weak.  Somewhere right now, Lee Ellen is doing a dance of joy.  Don't sprain your ankle, okay?

non of these guys are even close to hughes, lester, elsbury, kenedey, or austin jackson. it is an embarrassment to the twins.

I hope the new arms can have a solid season and provide some quality innings, giving the bull pen a breather. Oh well, we will have to see when the season begins.

P.S. CONGRATULATIONS GIANTS!!!

Gomez is as good, if not better, than Ellsbury (especially defensively). Mulvey & Kennedy both project to a #3 starter. The Twins didn't get their "ace" caliber pitcher to replace Garza's potential. The Yankees & Sox deals were better (now) because of Hughes/Lester, but the Twins didn't end up with nothing.
