Not a baseball death, but a death that should be acknowledged none the less. As most people know, Sir Edmund Hillary was the first man (known) to reach the top of Mt. Everest, doing so in 1953. He performed this feat with his Sherpa guide, Tenzig Norgay. He was an unassuming beekeeper who climbed mountains in the winter as more of a hobby than anything else. A true hero and pioneer.
