Leyritz charged in DUI death

I feel no sympathy for this asshole, I don't care if he was a Yankee. Drinking and driving is profoundly stupid, and to make matters worse, he killed a woman. I have no respect for people who drink and then get behind the wheel of a car. If you know you're going to go out and have a couple drinks, you should have your transportation already worked out ahead of time, be that a cab, a DD, public transportation, etc,. He could be facing 15 years in prison and I hope he serves 10 at the minimum. You kill someone, you go to jail. Isn't that how it works? Just don't ask Ted Kennedy that, you might get a different answer. If I had the kind of money these people have, I'd hire a driver whether I had been drinking or not. That pretty much eliminates the chances of me doing something stupid behind the wheel of the car. Why don't these dumbf*cks think of this? You see this with those spoiled Hollywood airheads, too. They have more money than the GDP of most third-world countries, but they still drive drunk and/or stoned, because they can't be bothered to hire a driver. Back on topic, Leyritz is dead to me. The Yankees have taken a few hits this off-season, this being the worst of them all. What next, Don Mattingly indicted in a check kiting scheme? Jeepers. My condolences to the family of the victim.....losing a loved one is never easy, but losing one this time of year must make the pain double, if not triple.

I couldn't have said it better myself,Beth. This makes me sick. I don,t care who you are. DON,T DRINK AND DRIVE. STUPID AND SELFISH.

I agree wholeheartedly with both of you, Beth and Dianna.
While I have not had any personal experiences with drunk or impaired drivers (thank God), the stories I read about are heartbreaking.
I may be heartless when I say this but I feel little to no sympathy for anyone who chooses to be so selfish as to drink or do drugs and then get behind the wheel of a car. If you want to get drunk or use drugs, fine - I have no problem with anyone being stupid enough to impact your own lives that way as long as it just does that, impacts themselves - but once you choose to drive on top of that, then you not only are still stupid, you also become incredibly selfish and so careless that you do not deserve any consideration.
Leyritz killed someone. Hopefully that will torture him emotionally for the rest of his life so that he will never drink and drive again. He also should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. The sentence in the Michael Vick case gives me hope that there are judges out there with backbones and have no problems issuing punishments that are appropriate for the crimes.
I hate hearing about famous people doing these stupid acts because they only reinforce the negative opinions the public has toward these seemingly priviledged losers. While many not know Leyritz, his case will heighten the awareness to this DWI cancer that still seems to plague our society, as did the Vick case regarding abhorrent depraved animal cruelty.
OK ... I will get off my soap box now :) - just pi$$es me off when people are dumb as tree stumps - especially people who have so much going for them in life.

ps on a lighter note, happy New Year everyone!!!
