The Yankees finally win a game.

We beat the Giants, which really shouldn't be that hard.....they just got swept by Boston.  The Kei Igawa Experiment rolled into town, and while he didn't outright suck, he wasn't exactly dominant either.  He kept the game within reach, and only gave up 2 runs.  Not bad,  but not great.  I had a feeling these 3 games were going to be a circus-like atmosphere, what with Bonds* being so close to breaking Aaron's record and wouldn't you know it....our pitching let him get one HR closer.  I hope when he hits 754 and he's rounding 2B, he trips over the base and blows both his knees out.  I have more respect for Manny Ramirez and he's an indolent punk.   Nothing would make me happier than to see that piece of **** IBB'd the rest of the way.   I'm sure that opinion is not popular, but I can't stand him.  Cannot stand him.

Moving on to more happier news, our offense seemed to return.  I think it flew ahead to SanFran to wait for us.  Alex went 4-4 with 2 RBI, upping his season total to 75.  And it's June 23rd.  Holy mackerel.  He also scored a run for us.  In A-Rod related news, he said he will not be participating in the Home Run Derby during the All-Star Game festivities next month.  Good.  It'll mess up his swing.  Derek went 2-4 with an RBI, including a stand-up triple.  Melky went 2-5 with 2 RBI, and he too hit a triple tonight.  It was nice to see the guys finally getting some good hits.  Godzilla also made an outstanding catch to rob a double that surely would have changed the outcome of the game at the time.  So he gets a gold star from me for that.  Great game, and let's keep it going tomorrow!

I chose only him, because he went 4-4 and had some outstanding D.  Everyone else mentioned in the offense wrap-up gets an honorable mention.  :-D

yeah, if he hadn't made that catch...who knows.
he just inspires so much confidence all around.

i was WAY too bummed the last teo nights to even read the blogs, much less make whiney comments. they looked really good tonight. i guess it will be john and suzy on the radio tomorrow...

If he gets IBB'd then you'd never get the chance to see him lose both of his knees rounding second... ah, there's nothing like a good fairytale ending.

I said I wanted him to blow his knees out rounding 2B on #754. I should hope that he doesn't get there this weekend. If so, I'm going to chew the **** out of our pitching staff. I meant I wanted him IBB'd the rest of this series.

Yeah, there's no way I'm listening to Buck and McCarver drone on and on about inane topics all afternoon.

A-Rod has been outstanding yet again this month, just pasting the ball all over the place. Matsui's catch was a turning point, ending the 5th, the Giants' rally and preserving a lead that was still 5-2. Just outstanding from Matsui. I'm also really impressed with Melky's guts for scalding the triple after banging that foul ball off his leg. He was clearly in pain, but legged out a triple. Shame on Abreu for not legging out his double, which should have been a triple. And without complaining too much about this, for the Yankees did win, but could the Yankees please not run with their heads up their rear ends on the base paths? The last few games on the bases has been "Bad News Bears" stuff, and it's disgraceful.

I've been looking forward to the Saturday games again on the radio, which is how I followed the Yankees from 2004-2006 being out of market. Sterling beats Captain Nepotism and Minutiae McCarver by a country mile.

Best. Nicknames. Ever. LOL

Many thanks, Beth. Unless the words "The Yankees are champions of baseball" are exiting Captain Nepotism's face, I genuinely couldn't care less what that Budweiser shill is saying.

That's basically how I feel about it too. I hope it happens while he's still calling games for FOX so he chokes on them while he's saying them.
