The Bronx Bombers decimate, annihilate and destroy Pittsburgh.

Photo001Ah, nothing quite like a maniacal-looking Steinbrenner to drive the point home.  SWEEEEEEEEP.  What a fantastic game this was.  Just wonderful.  For the offense, that is.  Clippard was not good today at all and if not for A-Rod and Bobby....we might have lost this game as the Pirates made a game of it in the early innings.  Just the early innings, though.  The Pirates summarily took their beating like a good baseball team in due time.  I wish we could play these guys 19 times a year.  Other than Tyler Clippard, I can't complain about our pitching today.  The offense made it a blowout, so they had a bit of room to groove, if you know what I mean.  Clipp is going to have a few bad games now and then, and luckily our offense kicked in to pick him up.  Earlier this season we wouldn't have won the game.  Ah, who am I kidding.  The A-Rod of April is back, we probably would have won it in a walk-off.

Speaking of Alex.....what a f--king beast.  Just......holy ****.  But he sucks and we should trade him for Joe Crede.  Remember that.  And Bobby Abreu?  INSANE.  The both of them today were a two-man wrecking crew.  They were making the Pirates pitching look like the kids from the Bad News Bears.  I've said it once, I'll say it again.  When this team is "on", they are an absolute joy to watch.  Even Wil Nieves had an RBI today.  That's how well things were going.  This is one of those game posts where everything is cut and dry.  Our starting pitching stunk, our relief pitching worked, our offense showed up.  Next on the menu....Arizona.  I've heard snake tastes like chicken.

yeah i felt bad for clippard today. i certainly am not qualified to say whether or not he should be in the majors. hopefully we wont need a 5th starter too many times before we get hughes back.
but what a fun day to watch our guys hit. just a lot of fun despite the few gray hairs that came courtesy of henn. at least he got out of it.

i'll be at the stadium on wednesday and if we can win on tuesday i'll be there for our chance to go over.500

great pic of the boss BTW

Be our good luck charm, Mike. If we win on Tuesday.....Wednesday would be going for Great Eight.

And that's my favorite picture of Stein. I think I'll post that for every sweep we have this season.

Six in a row, nine of the last eleven--yep, I agree, time for some trades. Abreu and A-Rod make a mighty tandem right now, with Abreu just mashing the ball, especially to the opposite field. A-Rod is back to being positively ridiculous at the plate, but needs to stop watching his home run balls. He's far from Manny-esque, but he shouldn't appear to be full of himself, either. Just run around the bases, A-Rod; but great hitting from the guy. Also, good to see Matsui coming around, and Melky has been collecting hits by the bushel in this stretch. Great bats today.

The bullpen did well after Clippard's terrible start--3 hits, 3 walks, no runs and 5 strikeouts. That's pretty impressive--turning a slug fest into a blowout as the Yankees kept scoring. Three straight series wins has this team streaking right now. Awesome.

I was able to watch the game today because I live in Pennsylvania, and I get to see all of Pittsburg's games....yeah.... sigh.

Bobby is on fire and took so many pitches from the pitchers that the broadcasters from Pittsburg were joking about it.

Beth, how old is the picture of George? I dont care what anyone says about the guy I love him.

i think they said abreu alone saw 38 pitches!!

That was taken during the parade in 1999 after we swept the Braves at home.

Abreu for Dye, A-Rod for Crede. Then the team will REALLY be good.

To be honest, every HR I've ever seen him hit, he does stand there for a second or two before running. He always hustles out of the box anyway, so he's not styling or pimping it. A slight admiration for the HR is okay to me. Slight meaning, don't take an hour and half to round the bases and don't act like it's a walk-off when it's not.

I'm really close to believing our darkest days are behind us. Finally.

Yes, A-rod is hitting homeruns like a machine and it's awesome, but he really shouldn't be stopping to watch them too much. He's not manny-like yet, but we wouldn't want him to be anything like that PLUS recently (I forget when, but it was only 2-3 games ago), he was admiring a hit thinking HR and didn't run hard out of the box and it wasn't a HR. I think he got thrown out at second (I'm not quite sure about that part).
Great game today! Glad to see Will Nieves get a hit and RBI with his mom watching him live for the first time! =)

Great to see Bobby coming around too. He was actually giggling with Kim on the field in the interview right after the game. (He saw 35 pitches today- how wonderful for A-rod to hit behind him!)

Let's go WANG!

//he was admiring a hit thinking HR and didn't run hard out of the box and it wasn't a HR. I think he got thrown out at second (I'm not quite sure about that part).//

He hit a ball deep into the outfield and was called out at second even though he was safe. It should have been a double but the ump screwed up. I don't think he hit it thinking it was a HR and pulled a Manny. The ball wasn't hit far enough to be a HR anyway.

Yeah, this Abreu/A-Rod tandem has been giving Ortiz/Manny a run for its money.

Horay!
Red *** lost!

finally single digit deficits.

Let's not toot a horn yet. 9.5 games is still a chasm to bridge. If we can get it down to 5 games by the ASG, then we're in a lot better shape. We still have work cut out for us.

I think that Webb versus Wang is one of the best early-season pitching match-ups we'll see anywhere. Two great sinker-ballers who can make hitters look feeble. That will be a good one, no doubt.

All I'm going to say is payback is a b**** D-Backs, let's Go Yanks.
