Strike up the dirge.
We just lost 5 of 6 to crappy NL West teams. The same Rockies who tore through us, just got swept by Toronto. The Giants had lost 8 straight before we came ambling into town and suddenly they're world beaters. This team is going nowhere. Absolutely nowhere. We are destined to be a .500 team at least and did you see that atrocious **** lineup we put out there? Holy ****. I've seen slow-pitch softball teams with more power.

There's a couple things about this team that have been bugging me more than usual and that's Cash's refusal to force Damon to go on the DL and his letting players go by that we could use. First Michael Barrett (hello....back-up catcher who can hit. Heard of it?) and then Milton Bradley (quality OF, better than we've got). I don't care what kind of aversion to the DL Damon has, it's obvious he needs to be on it and the longer he's not, the more stupid we all look. I don't know if it's ego or what have you that's keeping him off, but someone needs to step in and tell him to grow up and sit down for a decent length of time so he can heal. He's virtually useless to us right now. No wait....he is completely useless to us right now. We need bullpen help. We don't have it. Roger Clemens pitched an inning of relief today, for the first time since 1984 (regular season). Roger Clemens. The guy who's starting the second game of our series with the Orioles coming up next. He was a better reliever than Nuke LaFarnsworth who, after blowing the game open, cursed Melky Cabrera out like a spineless a-hole. What the **** is our GM doing all day? Twiddling his thumbs and watching porn? As much as Torre deserves blame for failures on the field because he's clinically insane, Cashman needs to be blamed for constructing a team a 3rd grade tee-ball league could beat. We have no bench, we have no bullpen. I bet I could strike our guys out, and I can't even throw over 30 mph. Just let me face Cairo, Wil and Melky.

Seriously, where does it end? Or maybe the better question is when does it end. Are we going to see the guys playing to a half-empty Yankee Stadium in August? Wouldn't surprise me. We have arguably the most bandwagon fans in baseball, so if they have a chance to jump ship, you know they will. I'll be eagerly awaiting what Sox fans have to say about all this, because you know they're dying to expound.

You may currently be on an extended tour of the land of **** ...but a season is a long and strange journey. Any day now, Steinbrenner will wake from his coma and fire a few people. Hang tight, things can change fast in MLB.

I'm agoraphobic so I usually avoid crowds. Maybe I'll have a chance to pop into Yankee Stadium this summer after all.
Better be careful putting out the tombstone. Someone really ill will think you're inappropriately referring to someone who is really ill (remember the RIP Red Sox/Jon Lester fiasco last year?)...

I sincerely hope that anyone who sees this doesn't *really* think I'm trying to refer to Jon Lester and his cancer diagnosis from last season. At the time it happened, I made a post about how saddened I was by it and hoping he made a full and complete recovery, which I continue to hope.
Actually, now that you mention it, you've got me worried some complete m-oron will think that's what I'm doing and kick up a row.

Well, the kitten population of the world can breathe a sigh of relief tonight. Another one has been spared.

Do you really think that Bradley and Barrett are what you need? Bradley seems to be a headcase and Barrett just got traded for a reason.

Michael Barrett is a catcher who can hit the ball. We need one of those other than Jorge. Milton Bradley is an OF with relatively decent defense who can hit the ball. We need one of those. At this point, beggars can't be choosers and we can't sit around waiting for perennial all-stars to become available. We have to take what is on the open market and what can fill holes in our team. Those two fit the bill. Wil Nieves is not an acceptable back-up catcher.
Seeing as your team is sitting in the cat-bird seat right now, I'd think you'd want those two on the Yankees, considering what you think about them. In your infinite wisdom, who would YOU rather see on the Yankees?

How about Elijah Dukes. That would give people something to talk about.

I dont know but having a team full of large egos, you dont need to add a guy like Milton Bradley. Barrett seems a little more logical, because Nieves is not the answer, I agree on that. And you do not solve your bullpen issue with signing either of these guys. Why would you ever want Milton Bradley on your team? Neither of those guys would solve the first base issue either, unless you think moving a Posada or Damon to first is a realistic solution. The offense will be there, it is there. I don't know why it disappears at times. But are you really worried that over the course of the season the offense won't produce enough? Speaking as long as they are healthy of course. The staff is fine once Hughes comes back. But with Clemens expected to pitch in relatively short outings and Mussina being inconsistent, it would make sense that the pen needs to be upgraded more than anything else, right? Wang is an innings-eater, not to mention one of the better pitchers in baseball. Pettite goes deep enough into games. Even adding another starter somehow makes more sense to me than adding a bat. They have had problems all year with their rotation staying healthy. But the bullpen seems like the most logical upgrade to me. There is my infinite wisdom Beth.

how quickly people's memory fade... I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought it was in poor taste for KFF (Kyle F***ing Farnsworthless) to curse out Melky for his error. it was a tough field in the sun as giraldi mentioned during broadcast on FOX so MANY times yesterday and as we saw the Giants miss a fly ball too. so yea, KFF pitched ok and yea, Melky error s**cked. but he also usually makes great plays out there, as he did to save the game-tying HR from Manny for KFF last season. how quickly the memory fades. He publicly showed disgust and cursed him out and he busted a bat in the dugout! that's not picking each other up. KFF is an A**HOLE!

AMEN on that poohhh. F-worthless has got a f&^kin nerve to say anything to ANYONE on the team considering the utterly atrocious performances he has turned in consistently all year. gosh i wish they'd trade him ASAP.
