R.I.P. The Streak™ (June 5 - June 14)
What a pathetic, putrid performance. Rocket pitched **** good ( 6.1 IP, 2 R, 7H, 8Ks) and got bupkiss for the efforts. Just like in Houston. He and Andy can trade notes on that. This s--t better not continue past tonight because I was rather enjoying writing positive and happy game posts. Happy Birthday, Andy. :-(

A new winning streak starts tomorrow. Make. It. Happen.

Reyes was the best player on the field tonight. Clemens deserved better for certain. The Yankees really let Perez off the hook in the fourth when Gomez caught Cairo's drive to deep left, and Matsui's horrible base running got him doubled off to the end threat. Perez really settled down after that, and the Yankees, who had four hits in the first two innings, looked weak afterwards.
So long streak. It was great while it lasted. Let's start another one tomorrow. The bats will need to be better to do so.

When I saw Rocket come out for the 7th, I got pissed because he was already over 100 pitches and he obviously wanted to stay in the game to keep the Mets at 2 runs to give us a chance to win. He's pitched 12.1 innings so far and struck out 15, his ERA is under 4 and he's walked I think 3 people. This was more than people were expecting from him. I think his next start is in Colorado, so I hope he gets a win there.
The bats better wake up tomorrow.....after the way we were hitting all week, seeing what I saw tonight was disheartening. We can't afford to go on some prolonged losing streak.

I have no idea what Matsui was thinking on that. He would ahve scored had the ball landed had he only staryed half way off second. That was horrible.
Clemens looked good. I thought looked better tonight than against the Pirates. It's amazing he gets no run support no matter where he plays.

Matsui's terrible base running was a huge gaffe, letting Perez off the hook when he was really struggling.
Clemens was really good. I think with the bats, the Yankees have a hard time with Perez because he throws hard and has a very odd delivery, with his limbs flailing every which way, and it seems that the Yankees don't pick the ball up well from him.

That game ******!!! BIG TIME!!! That was a terrible game. clemens pitched a gem and the yankees offense was nonexistent!
Instead of stars of the game, let's talk problems or losers of the game:
Why was Phelps in the game? He really doesn't do much. Defensively, he'e weak and he used to be the offensive contributer, but no good today. Strikeout with runner in scoring position after two lead off walks in the fourth?!?!@#%&*
Matsui - WHAT WAS HE THINKING?!?!@#$%&* He TOTALLY killed any chance for life being breathed back into the lineup and crushed any rally.
Cano (and sometimes Melky) has GOT to learn to swing at srtikes! (although he did get a freakishly rare walk today)
Basically, the whole yankees lineup was dead. They better liven things up tomorrow bc they've worked too hard to let things go wrong again now!
p.s. doesn't Cano have the LOUSIEST batting ave during day games? (I think it's like below .150)
at least clippard got a win the last time he pitched against the Mets, so there's some good chance.

The game was lackluster poohhh, no question. Matsui's gaffe seemed to wake Perez up and **** some life out of the Yankees. Too bad, because Perez was on the ropes in the first four innings. Phelps was in because Damon has a strained abdominal muscle, so the Yankees needed a DH in Damon's place. Phelps has a reputation for hitting lefties well, but his averages against lefties and righties are not much different--.280 against lefties, .259 against righties.
This team was due for a let-down at some point. It's just too bad it happened when squandering a very good start from Clemens. The bats have been great the past two weeks plus, so I'll treat this somewhat as an anomaly. Abreu absolutely creamed that ball in the 8th, as did A-Rod in the 3rd, both just missing home runs. We'll get after the Mets tomorrow.

Jeez, I can't believed that describing the way that life seemed to ebb from the Yankees got censored. So much for nuance.

BTW- baseball people are supposed to be the MOST supersticious people in the world, right? Me included when it comes to baseball.
So everyone out there, whatever was different about yesterday from the last 9 games - CHANGE IT BACK! (Me included: I had changed my gamewatching routine yesterday - shame on me)
Here's to the start of another GREAT streak!
Go Yankees! =)

poohhh, poohhh, poohhh (shaking head and looking down). I cannot believe you would cost the Yankees their tenth straight by adjusting your routine. That's great. JUST GREAT!
(Just joking)
I have few superstitions, myself. But like the great Crash Davis character said in "Bull Durham," "If you believe you're playing well because you're getting laid, or because you're not getting laid, or because you're wearing women's underwear then you are."
Let's get another streak going, and let's keep the streak of consecutive series won going in these next two.

Rain delay right now, and this is one of the stranger games I've seen/heard in some time. Clippard was horrible and couldn't hit himself in the rear end with a paddle today, but thankfully the Yankees really worked over Glavine. Jeter and A-Rod have had huge home runs, and Cano and Cairo had RBI singled in the 5th to pad the lead. Vizcaino was actually good in his 1 2/3 innings, but Proctor needs to cure himself of his Clipparditis.
