Ride the lightning.
Now THAT'S more like it. Yankees win again, we take the series and go into Coors Field on a high note. Gotta love it. It kinda sucks that if the offense showed up on Friday, we'd be going on 12 in a row and all that jazz, but Rocket got our Houston-esque offense that day. I'll take 2 in a row and our 5th straight series. Hopefully the Rockies and the Giants (who just got swept, BTW) will summarily bend over for their punishment when we come to town.

Wang was Wang. 10 Ks, lots o' fun. I love when he pitches. He was so ridiculously dominant tonight, you knew the Mets had no shot in **** of winning this game. It was a joy to watch him pitch tonight. It bites that he didn't get the CG, especially after he got that DP in the 9th, but he was over 110 pitches at that point and risking damage to his arm just made no sense. Torre should have pulled him sooner....apparently he left his quick hook in his other uniform pants. Myers got the last out, Yankees win. :-)

Alex Rodriguez hit another HR today (big freakin' shock, I know) and upped his season totals to 27 HRs and 73 RBI. He also had a double in the game as well. He also upped his season average to .315. He's got 9 more to go until the big 500. At this rate, he might get it in San Francisco, although I think we come home for a series after that, so maybe he'll end up getting it then. That would be nice. I'd love for him to get it at home.

Speaking of HRs, Johnny Damon had one and so did Jorge Posada. Every Yankee starter, including Miggy and Melky, got a hit. HUZZAH! However Alex and Johnny were the only two to have more than one hit, both getting 2. So in the interest of my readers, we'll have 2 Stars tonight. Mr. Taiwanese Lightning and Mr. High Socks.

Will three be awesome-y? (yeah it ******, but I couldn't think anything to rhyme with three that worked in that sentence)

Wang is getting stronger and stronger.
He is son of Taiwan!!!!

Wang was terrific tonight. It seemed that Torre wanted to give Wang the chance to wrap it up quickly in the 9th but it didn't happen. I would have pulled Wang after 8. He had already thrown 105 pitches and the game was 8-1. I suspect the pulling was due to Wang's pitch count, Delgado's double off him in the 7th, and Torre already had Myers up a couple innings before. But if that's the biggest gripe I have about tonight, it's not a big deal.
The bats were solid all around. It would be great if Damon's home run were a sign of some returning health. He sets the table very well when healthy, and I don't mind his DHing with Melky taking center. Melky's defense is superior, Damon has gotten healthier, and the team is hot again.
Great win.

Absolutely. And thank you for reading my blog all the way from Taiwan. I appreciate it. :-)

I told a couple people that the sign of how strong the team really was rested on how quickly they turned it around after a loss. They win 9 in a row, lose the first game of the series to the Mets, turn around and then bludgeon them in the next two games. In May, we would have gotten swept. Now, we take the series. It's the mark of a different team.

Wang was SUPER-FANTASTIC! He is SO awesome! The only criticism about him I always hear about him on the radio is that he doesn't strikeout enough - TAKE THAT! 10 SO! OMG!
The ESPN guys calling him Taiwan Lightning doesn't quite have the same ring. My husband said, "Taiwanese Tornado"- how's that?
Great win- Wang ROCKS!
Go Yankees!
p.s. Shout with glee for three! =)

Wang was phenomenal, really dealing all night. Like you poohhh, I find that criticism of him that he doesn't strike out enough batters to be funny. He dominates with his sinker to induce a ton of ground balls, doesn't allowed unearned runs because he so dominates batters with his "bowling ball sinker" (as Kevin Millar has called it), and then turns around and uses his slider, change-up and back-door fastball to keep the Mets off-balance all night. He was in total control, and I think a lot of that was also Jorge calling a great game.
