Nine Lives

Photo001_3Well.........the Yankees have claimed yet another victim on the road to redemption.  The Diamondbacks are just another notch on this team's collective belt.  Watching the team these last 9 games has been a real joy, one I hope to continue for a couple more games to come.  Sweeping the Mets may not be easy, but at the very least I believe we can take the series.

Andy Pettitte is a rock star.  Absolute rock star.  8 innings of 1 run ball?  Sign me up.  More quality pitching.  His final line ended up as 8.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 4 Ks.  Scott Proctor relieved him and threw a great 9th, with 2 Ks.  I just can't say enough about the quality of pitching we've been getting.  Andy was just sublime this afternoon.  He's finally getting enough run support and the defense behind him isn't giving away outs.  The more I see him pitch, the more I'm **** thankful he's here.

Alex Rodriguez is a mythical beast who children should read about in ghost stories.  He went 3-4 today, with 2 more RBIs and a walk.  If he's not hitting HRs, he's getting timely hits to advance and score runners.  PAY HIM CASH....PAY HIM NOW.  The other big offensive guy today was Hideki Matsui, who also went 3-4 and had 4 RBIs.  Both Alex and Hideki doubled as well in this game. Rounding all that out, Derek Jeter went 2-3.  Another short recap.....although I'm not getting tired of having to say it.  Quality pitching + situational hitting = Yankees win.

A-Rod is the toughest out in baseball right now. My boy Matsui is really getting hot. He's scalding the ball in the last ten games. As good as the Yankees were, Arizona was equally bad. Davis looked awful, and the scorer gave the D'Backs breaks on at least three hits that could have been errors.

This series was a good trouncing, and a good primer to face the Mets. This weekend will be electric, especially with The Rocket on for tomorrow night.

I get the impression that the Steinbrenner photo is a lucky photo of sorts. Good stuff.

ten is Muy Bein

The Mets may be slumping right now, but they aren't the Pirates. This will be Roger's first real test of what he's got. If the Yankees keep the offense going though, it won't make that much difference. I'd love to see that splitter again. Oh dear.

Hmmm, maybe. I post it for sweeps because a) it has a broom and b) Steinbrenner looks f--king crazy. LOVE IT.

Excellent! If we win tomorrow night, that might be the title. :-D

I actually felt that Arizona had almost a zero chance of winning this game, with Davis on the mound and the fact that they have been emotionally damaged by the AL East the past two series.' Not to mention that they were playing a team that had won 8 in a row.

That is the greatest photo ever. In the words of the immortal Bel Biv Devoe: That photo's dope. It definitely wants to make me scream. Boyz II Men. ABC. BBD. The east coast family.

Or something like that.

Andy Petite is AWESOME! So far this season he had been the epitome of not being helped by his own team and having to just continue being solid to help himself. That was the case when there wasn't run support in the beginning, that was the case when the bullpen blew 3 of his wins, and that was the case today. In the 3rd inning when there was miscommunication with Phelps that allowed a hit (even though Andy was calling it), it was AWESOME to see Andy pitch and help himself to a double play! He ROCKS!!!
Rocket Launch tomorrow!!!

I have already stated this in a previous post but that picture is awesome!!! This winning streak has given us a lot of our swagger back and this picture shows it.

Andy is awesome! I am so glad that we went out and got him this past offseason. He was gone way to long, and I hope that he decides to stick around for a couple more years if he remains healthy.

Pettite has been one of the team's most valuable players, no doubt. He's been tough and has gone deep into many games. I'm really happy for him that he got the run support, that the bats have finally come around to match his quality starts.

My boy Matsui is swinging a hot bat, making that lineup all the more difficult to navigate through.

you got that right. matsui has dominated. the homer from the other night was truly awesome...and somehow ignored by the media in favor od a-rods. nothing against a-rod but matzilla's was just as awe-inspiring

Hey Yankee fans - Mets fan here. It has been about a month since I posted here and at that time the Yankees were at rock bottom and my team was tearing up the league. I remember posting here that I thought the Yankees would tunr it around as they were better than they were playing at that time...well,, DID YOU HAVE TO TAKE ME SO LITERALLY???? :)

Seriously, the Yankees are the studs right now and as my Mets come limping and sputtering into the Bronx tomorrow, I will always root for my team, but I have to say, I am more than a little nervous that this will be a whooping by the Bombers. Picture the Yankees a month ago - that is the Mets. So your hope for at least winning two out of three sounds real good to me - I will take the one win with bells on.

Anyway, nice turn around guys. I would say "See you tomorrow" but not sure I want to watch..:)

HAHA......well, when the guys do something, they don't do it by half-measures.

No offense to the Pirates, but the Mets are a better team so it'll be Rocket's first real test. I hope he gives us at least what he gave us the first time around. With the way we're swinging the bats will take care of the rest. Good luck to your team. :-)

yes indeed, good luck. i'm not a mets hating yank fan...i'm of course rooting for us to beat you guys...but i have a lot of respect for that team and willie randolph

Thanks Lee Ellen! maybe you gave us a little good luck vibe that the Yankees did take alittle literally! =)
I was actually at the third game of the last subway series (the one tyler clippard pitched and hit a double in). My husband and I went with his best friend who is a Met fan and on the way there, the friend said, "I have a feeling you yankees are gonna win tonight!" and I remember thinking, "if they do win with how badly they've been struggling and how hot the Mets had been, then maybe it would be the start of a turn-around!"

I just hope it continues cuz beth is so right- this weekend will be a very revealing test!

Go yankees!

p.s. beth- you like what happened with blister boby? LOL! =)

p.p.s that was supposed to be "blister boy" (I guess I can't type properly)

blister baby would be good too

LOL! =)

In the last 10 games, the Yankees are 9-1 and the Mets are 1-9. The Mets are due to get to better, I just hope it's after they leave the Bronx. What I'm hoping is that we set a tone early and leave the rest to Rocket. He's going to battle no matter what. Clippard is the wild card in this series and I hope he pitches better Saturday than he did on Sunday. If we can get two good performances from Rocket and Tyler, then I can't see how we don't sweep the Mets. Then again, things might go to ****. Who knows.

//p.p.s that was supposed to be "blister boy" (I guess I can't type properly)//

Any time I can see a Sox pitcher get smacked around, I will enjoy it. Beckett has been quite good this year, so seeing him return to 2006 form was nice to see. I guess everyone is due for a correction of sorts. The Sox weren't going to play that good all year and we weren't going to play that bad. It was all a matter of making sure we soared while they plummeted.

Beth,
Here's a good smackdown for you. Someone needs to remind Curt there is no crying in baseball, oh and Lugo takes a hit as well;
