Joe Torre makes me seethe......part 2.
WHERE THE **** WAS MARIANO RIVERA WHILE PROCTOR WAS WALKING THE **** GAME AWAY? WHERE WAS HE? TWIDDLING HIS THUMBS IN THE BULLPEN? WHAT IS HE SAVING MO FOR? I have had absolutely all I'm going to stomach of this ****. This is the 2nd straight game Torre has let Mo rot while Proctor lost the game. And it isn't even just the 2nd time this season where he's done it either. I'm thinking he's trying to get fired. The first one was the extra-innings debacle in SF and then this one. I am beyond sick to death of this "don't put your closer in a tie game on the road" mumbo-jumbo. You win with your best or you lose with your best. Mo is the best we've got and if we want to actually, gee I don't know....WIN the game, you put him in. Not Proctor who is f--king overworked. To add insult to injury, he has Cano bunt. BUNT!!! Giving away outs when we can barely plate runners is smart. Real smart. Oh so **** smart. Is he even awake on the bench? Is he watching this? We just lost a game to the Orioles. THE ORIOLES. A lefty starts tomorrow, so we're losing that game for sure. We can't hit lefties to save our asses. If Boston wins tonight, we're right back where we were when Alex homered off Papelbon in the 9th three weeks ago. Isn't that a comforting thought. We've gone nowhere. A big, fat circle of nowhere.

On top of that great 9th inning, we couldn't get more than 2 runs off Guthrie. WHERE'S THIS UBER-SPECIAL-SUPER-DUPER-FANTASTICO OFFENSE?! Is this what $200 million gets you nowadays? Force-outs, ground-outs, double plays and strike outs at eye-level. Torre has a sick fascination with bunting and has the guys do it all the time and at the wrong times, and it's never the right people doing them. Requiring Cano to do anything that requires fundamentals is a bad idea. He swings at pitches from his eyes to his laces. I say we put shock collars on everyone, and each time they do something stupid, we send a few hundred volts of electricity through their asses. Then he won't force Damon to go on the DL. Torre said he had to have 4 ribs pushed back into place....oh but he's fine to play. Don't you fret none. Abreu is batting 8th, even though Alex said he likes Bobby batting 3rd and with Bobby batting 8th, Alex will get ZERO pitches to hit because he's got no protection.

I think this was a better situation to use Mariano than Saturday for two innings, if necessary, since Mariano had three days off between Friday and today--essentially was very rested. The bigger problem, to me, is that the middle relief is absolutely untrustworthy. I know that relates to how Mariano is and isn't used, and you're right on to complain about his use. But right now there is no one, absolutely no one, who can pitch an inning in the clutch other than Mariano. Bruney has been bleeding walks. Proctor was just terrible. It's a catch-22--use Mariano in such situations and he'll get overused soon enough, and don't use him and ensure you lose because the rest of the bullpen is completely untrustworthy. Even if Mariano were used, there's no guarantee with this team that they'd even score. They're clueless all around. The lefties are horrible--Cano and Matsui 0-4, Damon and Abreu 1-4, a combined 2-16. I say at least some of these times, you need to use him, maybe not in every tie-game situation on the road, but not using him just cost this game. The bullpen is a colossal mess.
It's way past time to get rid of guys, eating some salary if necessary. What a putrid disgrace. Oh yeah, and Proctor, how about looking around and checking the runners instead of basking in the glow of temporarily staving off the inevitable with your diving catch, stupid?

That's the sick part. Either we use him now and risk losing later, or let him rot and risk losing now. Either way, Torre's concept of bullpen management is a disgrace. He has no clue what he's doing.

I actually didn't see this, so I'll take your word for it....but that is just ridiculous. We were going to lose anyway, but don't make it dramatic.

you're right about them being clueless.i'd call them utterly hopeless. there are no quick fixes for this. most of our hitters are mediocre at best this year. the "vaunted" yankee line-up is a mere shadow of it's former self. the manager looks simply defeated. and yeah, the bullpen is a true embarrassment

I'd start getting rid of some dead weight in the bullpen, take your pick--Nuke, Proctor, Bruney. I'd also consider dumping Abreu. He'll be gone next year anyway. It's time to shake things up. I blame the players for their poor play more than I do Torre, but he's had a bad season too. Not many should feel safe, honestly.

" I say we put shock collars on everyone, and each time they do something stupid, we send a few hundred volts of electricity through their *****." Priceless. Today was pretty much the worst played baseball game I've seen in a long time. Things better change.

The thing is, we all keep saying that and nothing changes. This was supposed to be a cakewalk right now, playing Colorado and SF and Baltimore and right now, were 1 of our last 7. Boston's lost the last 2 games, but we've been unable to make up any ground. I feel like every day is Groundhog Day with this team.

Yeah, these guys are bad, and the thing is they shouldn't be. The lack of offense is beyond comprehension. The bullpen's inability to throw strikes is beyond comprehension. The only consistency is from the rotation. These guys are in every game mainly b/c of the pitching. The offense and the bullpen need to do their jobs.
F-Proctor! If I have to watch him make the "just you and me" gesture after issuing a walk one more time, I'm going to blow.

Beth I think we should put a shock collar on Torre and set it off everytime he uses Proctor or Nuke when Mo should be used. Seriously I was about to punch the tv when I saw Proctor out there. If this is how it is going to be for the rest of the season then I think Joe needs to go.... and I never thought I would ever say that. Where's the Boss?? Is he even a live because I havent heard anything from him lately.
I'm going to the game tomorrow since I live an hour from Baltimore. I love going there because Yankee fans are the ones who fill up a majority of the sets. Hopefully Wang makes the drive home a happy one!!
I can relate to baseball not being as fun. But dont give up yet!! My friend, an orioles fan who I have almost successfully converted into a yankee fan, texted me from the game last night and told me that this is not looking good. I told her to believe and then Damon hit the homerun. We ended up losing but there is a lot of time left to keep believing. This team will turn it around even though that is so hard to believe.
