Business as usual.

Allow me to quote myself from last night's game post:

This game had all the makings of another pathetic Yankees loss. Yankees get lead, pitcher gets injured giving up lead (more on that later), Yankees look lifeless and dead while stranding runners.....

I've bolded the portions of that text that apply most to tonight's game.  Oh what joy it was, as well.  Nothing like seeing the bats sputter and die for 8 innings only to suddenly see a re-emergence when it matters least.  Wouldn't want the Yankees to overexert themselves or anything.  Matt DeSalvo has no business pitching major league baseball games.  None.  Ron Guidry would have done a better job, and probably would have lasted longer.  ****, a random fan in the stands would have done a better job.  Chris Britton was the lone bright spot here, and unfortunately that HR he gave up means we'll never see him again.  Torre won't use him again, however he feels no compunction in overusing pitchers like Vizcaino, Farnsworth and Myers who have the tendency to suck and suck often.  So it goes with Clueless Joe anymore.  Derek Jeter is hurt (I saw him limping) which is just f--king fabulous and per Erin Andrews on NESPN, Joe wants Alex to either sit or DH for a few games because he has a lot on his mind right now and "he doesn't look like he's enjoying baseball."  If Torre actually goes through with this and benches or DH's Alex for the off the field stuff that's been happening.........nevermind.  You know where that's going.  Damon needs to get on the **** DL but he won't and Phelps sucks so bad he's forced Merriam-Webster to change the definition of the word.  Such is the state of the Yankees right now.  Hobbling, limping, sputtering, choking and sucking all the way to mediocrity.  But I will give the Yankees this one thing; they are damned consistent.  If there's anything I love in a baseball team, it's consistency.

Consistency

LOL!!! That picture is SO funny! and quite appropriately epitomizes how the Yankees played. I just wish they would string some wins in a row! This is so frustrating! NEVER pitch Desalvo again! He needs to add some pitching books to that 400 book list of his.
I am so worried for Jeter bc he and Jorge were the only ones playing well and we can't afford a limping, hobbling, "last out of the game" Jeter. I hope he's okay.

And I WHOLE-heartedly agree with you about accommodating to Alex's "personal problems".

BTW- I am really finding listening to Paul ONeal as a commentator QUITE amusing! =)

I'm glad I missed half the game while at the movies with the family, though "Shrek the Third" won't inspire any paeans for its cinematic contributions. Let's just say it's no "Roadhouse."

DeSalvo has apparently been sent down, according to Bryan Hoch. Good. DeSalvo seems to like his stuff and aggressiveness; if only he can convince the rest of the world of their collective lapse in judgment. Phelps has to be far better at the plate than his double-play routines, and his glove will make us yearn for Mientkiewicz in a way I never thought possible. Jeter has a slump to shake off, admittedly his first this year, in addition to the sore foot. I'm a bit tired of the AAA pitching routine. I know it's been necessary, but the results are getting worse at exactly the time when the Yankees need to gain ground. a bad combination.

Messy, just messy.

Paul O'Neill is a great commentator on YES. When Mo struck out the side during that one home game after giving up the double, he and Flaherty were just losing it making fun of the ump's exaggerated strike/strike out calls and it was hilarious. They both balance out Kay's stupidity. And he knows a few of the guys out there, so he can give little insights about them that other people can't.

And if Torre really benches/DHs Alex for the stuff that's been going on off the field, I want Girardi managing the next **** game. The fact that NESPN would report something like that as even mildly based in fact infuriates me, because it makes it sound like Alex is getting thrown under the bus.

Well what movie is, I ask you. Patrick Swayze is truly the Brando of our generation.

Alphabits will get a standing O if/when he comes back. I can feel it. All these people begging Torre to give Phelps more playing time are going to be choking on those words in a couple more weeks.

Who isn't? We have no one left healthy to bring up. So it's do or die with what we have. ****, Roger Clemens can give us more than 1.1 innings even WITH a sore groin.

*ahem* It's a FATIGUED groin. LOL How does a groin get fatigued and how do you know when it is fatigued. Does it communicate in some way, "Whew! I'm so tired! I'm really fatigued!" =)Anyone ever figure out what that means?

HAHA.......I have no idea. Although he is 44, so it may not take much for *anything* to get fatigued. Fortunately it's not going to hold him back for long and he can make his first start at home.
