Andy Pettitte is all heart.
I thought I'd interrupt the 8th Annual Red Sox/Yankee fan Throwdown for a few minutes to actually discuss baseball.

I was reading some threads on some different Yankees forums, and one thing I've taken away from that is just how monumentally important Andy Pettitte has been to this team so far this season. This is a guy who offers to come out of the pen on his throw days to save an arm that is overused. He even went up to Joe Torre during that one game in Oakland, telling him he'd pitch to give our team a fresh arm out there. He's been our unquestioned ace so far this season, and the leadership and advice he can offer our younger guys is invaluable. He seems like he's having a lot of fun out there and that really enjoys being back here and playing for us again. In the midst of all the problems our pitching staff is having right now, it's great to see someone like him pitching well, smiling and helping the team in any way he can. I always liked Andy and while I was a little worried when I heard he was coming back, I couldn't be happier that he is. Keep it up, Andy.

Great post. Andy has been a lifesaver. I never imagined how much of an impact his return would have so early in the season. I was originally cautious, but now I'm ecstatic that he's back.

I agree.
Andy is the life blood of this pitching staff right now.

Right on. Pettite has been excellent, and I agree about his mentoring role, which is I believe much of why he's back--leadership. I also like that he was a bit miffed about coming out of the game Friday, muttering as he left the mound. He's a great competitor, and always has been. He's a big-time, big-game, big-hearted pitcher.

He was at 100 pitches, but I know he would have thrown another hundred if it got us the win.

He should be 3-0, but you can't change the past. I think that even after Wang comes back, he's going to be the ace of this staff.
