Game 29: Snake-bit.

Another day, another game we lose that we could have won.  AJ didn’t even have a bad day on the mound, the defense/offense was the real reason we lost. We’re tied at 2-2 in the 7th, and suddenly our position players get the yips and cough up three runs.  It’s not the pitcher’s fault that the defense can’t hold onto the ball or throw properly.  I actually felt bad for Burnett because he pitched a really good game besides, and he’s been one of our best starters all season so far, next to CC.  He’s pitching now like he did in 2009, and what’s what we wanted going into the season.

I’m not sure how you get ten hits but only manage three runs out of that, but we did that.  Alex went 2-2 after coming into the game when Chavez left with an injury, Nunez went 2-4 with an RBI, Robbie went 2-4, Gardy went 2-5 with an RBI……how didn’t we win this game?!  Annoying.  Utterly and completely annoying.  We’re playing the Rangers next, so can we manage to play well against them, please.

Looking at the league thus far for the first 30 or so games, it appears to be pitching-dominant. There are only 8 teams batting above .260. However, there are 17 teams with an ERA under 4.00. The Yankees are hitting about 19 points below last year, but the pitching staff is about half-a-run better per game.

The AL East race is extremely tight thus far. Boston is still scraping bottom, but is only five games out of first.

I’m surprised to see it’s a league-wide phenomenon. I thought it was just us. LOL

As not pleased as I am that our offense has been struggling, considering how everyone thought our pitching would fare this season, I’m happy to see it’s better than expected.

I’m shocked we’re still in 1st, to be honest. We haven’t been playing like we deserve to be there.
