Game 26: Back from a lengthy delay.

The Yankees sure do love those dramatic, late-inning victories, don’t they?  It’s almost like they enjoy giving their fans heart attacks by making them wait until the last very last minute.  A win is a win though, and we’ll take them anyway we can.

Colon had yet another fantastic start for the Yankees, showing himself to be going through a seeming renaissance on the mound.  His final line was 7 IP, 7 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 7 K.  Another quality start.  Maybe our rotation isn’t as shoddy as we thought it would be.  Joba pitched the 8th, and Mo pitched the 9th netting his 11th save of the season, and bringing him to 32 to go on his march to the all-time saves record.

Our offense has been in a bit of a dip the last few games, but we’ve been eking them out somehow.  We only managed five runs on 11 hits, which looks like it should be the other way around.  Swish was our big hero, getting the tie-breaking single in the 9th, and Alex scored on a passed ball to give Mo a little cushion for the bottom of the inning.  Derek went 2-5, so he’s only 49 hits away from 3,000 now (although judging by how poorly he’s been playing besides that, who knows when he’s going to get it — get your sh!t together, Derek); Swish went 2-4 with an RBI, and Jorge went 2-5 with an RBI.  Let’s hope this combo of timely hitting and quality pitching continues for the rest of the series.
