At least we can say one good thing; during this whole stretch of rather putrid offense, we’ve been getting some great starting pitching. So at least not everything is falling to pieces in one fell swoop. Something else that’s been great to see, is how effective Bartolo Colon has been for us this season. I certainly never expected it before the season started, and I don’t think anyone else did either…..except maybe Bartolo Colon himself. His final line was 8 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 6 K. Mo came in for the 9th and collected his 8th save of the season, which leaves him with 35 to go before he holds the all-time saves record. Keep it going, Mo.
As I mentioned above, our offense these last four games has been awful. We scored three runs in the 1st inning last night……….and then nothing for the rest of the game. That’s sad, no matter how good our SP was. Our only run production came from a 3-run HR by Robbie Cano. No one else showed up. Derek did get another hit, which means he needs 52 more to get 3,000, but nothing else of any import happened. I’m glad we won, but come on guys. Hit the ball.
