Now, on to tonight’s game. We start our Interleague (ugh) series against the Mets and chose tonight to completely forget how to hit the ball. Thankfully Javy Vasquez chose tonight to remember how to pitch the ball. I just hope he’s not injured. That’s about the last thing we need right about now. His final line ended up being 6 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 K. That’s better than we’ve gotten out of AJ and Andy recently. The pen did their job, although Mo is starting to worry me. This is something like the 3rd or 4th appearance in a row where he’s given up a run and some hits while trying to get the save. Two of those appearances he ended pulling a Purplebuns and blowing the save. Is Mo…..dare I say….becoming mortal? Ack, I don’t want to think it. Maybe he’s just got his usual early season yips and there’s nothing to worry about. Right? Right??
Where oh where did our offense go, where oh where can it be? 2 runs on 8 his is kind of pathetic, especially since our runs came from a dude by the name of Kevin Russo. I don’t know what a Kevin Russo is, but he saved our bacon tonight. He went 2-3 with 2 RBI. Alex was the only other Yankee to clock more than 1 hit — he went 2-3 as well. Seriously guys, what’s up here? First we score a ton of runs, but the pitching blows it and we lose. Then we barely score any runs, and the pitching nearly blows it, but we win. How about we go back to playing like we did when the season started……and keep at it? Novel concept.
