Yankees strike first.

Greekgodzeus_1Now that’s what I’m talking about.  Making a statement in an important series right from the start.  3rd straight game with offense, 2nd straight win, 3rd straight game A-Rod homers (I like that I’m saying that again)….all around excellent game from the Yankees tonight.  I hate playing the Red Sox, especially when they’re playing as well as they have been lately.  Frankly, they annoy the **** out of me and beating their sorry asses makes me feel good.  This was a game we had to win.  We needed to set a tone in this series, and I think we’ve done a good job so far.  Wang pitched a great game tonight, even though he had a couple shaky innings, he was able to recover quickly and minimize the damage.  I was surprised when Torre sent him out in the 7th inning; Joe is known for having a real quick hook and Wang was already over 100 pitches at that point.  Our pen didn’t blow the game, which is a far cry from what we experienced from them the last couple series against this team.  It was nice to see Bruney be so dominant….hopefully this means Torre realizes what his real role on this team is and he’ll be allowed to fulfill it  more often.

Alex Rodriguez hit another HR (boy, I love saying that), as did Jason Giambi and that was all the runs we needed, although knowing our pitching like we do, the extra runs certainly didn’t hurt.  Johnny Damon had a big night, going 3-4, Robbie Cano went 2-4  with 2 RBIs coming on the back of a much-needed 2-RBI insurance  triple.  As I said earlier, it was great to see our bats heat up like that again.  Maybe this is the sign of more good things to come.  I’m not a fan however, of our outfield defense.  It’s a joke, to put it mildly.  I think the Sox got at least one run as a result something stupid happening in LF.  I want it to be a little tighter for the next couple games.

  1. great post;great game. we really needed it tonight and i felt it coming ever since that late rally saturday against the mets. the bats are back, and more importantly everyone seemed pretty fired up, especially damon. i love seeing him hit against his old team…i hated seeing youkilis get a hit…for some reason i hate him almost as much as i hate manny…of course lowell and crisp sicken me as well.
i agree with you about left field tonight…it wasn’t matzilla’s night…but he’ll be back tomorrow. i have no doubt.

i was surprised as well that wang came back in the 7th…i was glad that he did, but also gald that torre took him out after he struggled a bit. it worked out ok. i, too, was glad that he was able to work himself out of those early jams he had.

farny makes me nervous as ****. i don’t care how much of a lead you have…he could give it away.

all in all. a lot of fun and on to tomorrow

    mike

  2. Is it just me or no matter how many runs the Yanks got, I still feel nervous when they send the Krazy Kyle on the mound?

It’s not just you. Every time he’s on the mound, I get heartburn. He always has the potential to blow the game.

  4. If we can’t break this drunken D-Bag off today, especially after his cy-young performance against us yesterday, I’m going to be pissed. Go Yanks.
